The Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay may have chosen Bryan Abasolo as her fiancé, but she’s still head-over-heels for her first love—her dog, Copper Ash! Addressing BRIDES and other outlets, Lindsay said Copper has given Bryan the “paw of approval.”
It’s not uncommon for couples to include their pets in the nuptials, especially cuddly pups like Copper. In fact, some forego a traditional ring bearer in favor of the family dog trotting down the aisle with wedding bands strapped to his back.
Lindsay and the contestants made references to Copper multiple times throughout the season, after he was formally introduced on the first episode. When he limped into Lindsay’s arms (he wore a cast while recovering from a fall), Copper made it clear that he’s the #1 man in her life.
Lindsay has been known to call Copper her “dog child” so he’ll likely be part of the wedding, but she’s still working out the details: “I haven’t thought that far, but he has to be involved in some way,” she said. “He already has his bowtie!”
Earlier this week, during The Bachelorette live finale special on ABC, Lindsay and Abasolo agreed that they want to take time to enjoy their engagement after months of having to keep their relationship under wraps—apparently sneaking around gets old after awhile. The happy couple said they’re excited for the little things: going out for coffee, catching a movie and walking Copper, of course.
They have, however, made at least one decision about the wedding: it’ll be sometime in the winter. “I mean, I’m from Texas,” Lindsay said on the finale, “obviously I want a winter wedding.”
Exactly when will they tie the knot? That’s still TBD, but in an interview with E! News, Lindsay said she wants to get married next year.
